CARACAS, March 12 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Cuban Vice Minister of Health Joaquin Garcia assured that one of the main challenges of the Cuban mission in Venezuela is to continue assisting the state health programmes within the primary assistance network of “Mission Inside the Neighbourhood”.
Under the current system more than 6,000 people have been provided with maternal and child care that provides follow up for women and their new-borns, he said.
He said that another important task of the Cuban mission is supporting the national plan of immunisation against 14 diseases by vaccinating people at more than 3,000 centers.
There are more than 11,000 health centers in Venezuela that are assisted by the Cuban health mission. Out of these 502 are comprehensive diagnostic centers, 555 rehabilitation wards, 400 optical wards and 2,000 dental centers and 27 high-tech centers.
Garcia told Prensa Latina that the mission is not limited to providing medical assistance but also to the education and training of more than 24,000 young people. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
