In conjunction with the 56th anniversary of the Prisons Department, officers and staff yesterday attended a religious talk at the Bukit Pantai Hall of the Jerudong Prison.
Ustaz Hj Kassim Hj Ismail, lecturer from the Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan, presented the talk, which touched upon ways to carry out one’s duties following the teachings of Islam, based on knowledge, experience, honesty, trust and fairness.
Attending the event were the Acting Director of Prisons, Hj Jasni Hj Abd Latif and the Deputy Director of Prisons, Hj Abd Manan Hj Abd Rahman.
This is the first time this event has been organised in conjunction with the Prisons Department’s anniversary and it will now be organised annually.
According to Superintendent Hj Ismail Hj Murat, Chairman of the Prisons Department Religious Body, it is hoped that events like these will be organised more often to help motivate the personnel of the prisons department to continue to work together and cooperate in achieving the visions and missions of the department.
“I also hope that with events like this, it will help us to achieve excellence in our roles, duties and responsibilities,” he added.
Also in attendance were senior officers, officers and staff from the Prisons Department.
