PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia March 13 (NNN-Bernama) — Civil servants must be more responsive to the government’s objectives by feeling the pulse of the people through the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said in their strive to take the country to greater heights, civil servants should not be complacent.
“If the duties call for urgency, civil servants must change their attitude and they work hand in hand to realise the 1Malaysia concept, the people first, performance now,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Department dinner here on Friday’s night.
Present was Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Sidek Hassan.
Muhyiddin said civil servants should be more creative and innovative, and proactive in their duties.
“A sense of urgency called for by the prime minister will make us more competitive in the international arena,” he said, adding that all the traits needed would give a positive impact to the administration as aspired by the people.
He said the people were blessed with a stable, strong and progressive government shored up by responsible and dedicated civil servants.
“The slogan, ’1Malaysia – the people first, performance now’ will not succeed without your support.
“Najib Tun Razak also appreciates your views in your respective capacity besides that of the people as the government is concerned with the needs of the people,” said Muhyiddin.
He said as the Prime Minister’s Department was a pivotal department, its employees were also entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of polices, strategies, programmes and development projects.
They should ensure high quality and integrity of services, and being responsive in striving to achieve its objectives and direction based on the four pillars – the 1Malaysia concept, the GTP, new economic model and the 10th Malaysia Plan.
