MORE than 20 members of the Tutong New Converts Association (PESATU) yesterday took part in a cooking course as an effort to enhance more knowledge in cookery. The programme was held at Pesatu’s multi-purpose hall, Kg Lubok Pulau in the Tutong District.
During the course, the members were taught on how to make traditional pastries, cakes and their decorations, as well as Malay cooking and many more. Conducted every weekend, it gave housewives a chance to fill in their free time by learning cooking skills.
Hjh Rohaidah Anizah Muhd Kamsani, the association’s Setiausaha Agung, explained to The Weekend that the course was held after some of the women members suggested the idea in a few meetings. It was then supported by Yang Berhormat Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Hj Othman Uking, a member of the Legislative Council, who is also an advisor to the association.
When all members complete the course, it is hoped that they would take the opportunity from the skills that they have to open their own businesses, however small. She advised any members who wish to join the programme could do so by registering their names directly to her.
