LUSAKA, March 15 (NNN-ZANIS) — President Rupiah Banda of Zambia leaves here for Malawi Monday for urgent consultations with his Malawian counterpart, Bangu wa Mutharika, who is also the current Chairman for the African Union (AU).
President Banda, who holds the Chair of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region, will be meeting Dr. Wa Mutharika in his capacity as AU Chairman, a ccording to a statement released here Sunday by the Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Dickson Jere.
Jere said President Banda would be accompanied on the visit to Malawi by Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande and some senior government officials.
President Banda and his delegation were expected to return to Lusaka the same day.
