ALGIERS, March 16 (NNN-APS) — A Brazilian medical team has arrived here in order to carry out surgical operations on children suffering from congenital heat malformation at the Mohammed-Abderrahmani Hospital, according to the Brazil Embassy in Algeria.
The embassy said in a statement issued here Sunday that the medical team, which arrived last Friday, would remain in Algeria until March 19. The team is made up with five doctors from Rio De Janeiro National Institute of Cardiology.
The statement added that the mission was in line with a co-operation project for practical training in paediatric heart surgery signed between the two countries.
The project aims at promoting knowledge transfer to Algerian surgeons and helping them to acquire autonomy in cardiovascular paediatric surgery, the statement said.
Ninety-one surgical operations on Algerian children have been made since the beginning of the project in June 2007, the statement added. — NNN-APS![]()
