VIGAN CITY, Philippines March 16 (NNN-PNA)–Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Jesus Versoza on Tuesday said a total of 1,376 assorted firearms have already been confiscated as a result of the on-going implementation of the Comelec Resolution 8714, or the nationwide total gun ban.
Despite this accomplishment, Verzosa assured more stricter implementation of the total gun ban to ensure the honest, orderly and peaceful elections (HOPE) on May 10, 2010.
Some of the initial gun ban violators were members of the PNP and other law enforcement agencies.
?The PNP members who will be caught violating the Comelec total gun ban resolution will face criminal and administrative charges,? he said.
?Under the rule, PNP members are not allowed to carry firearms while they are in civilian clothes. Only uniformed PNP members will be allowed to carry firearms while performing their duties,? he said.
Meanwhile, the PNP chief also announced that the PNP is continuously conducting close monitoring and operations to dismantle the identified partisan armed group nationwide.
?To date, at least 50 partisan armed group identified nationwide had already been dismantled by lawmen and this operation will continue to ensure the conduct of peaceful elections,? he said. — NNN-PNA![]()
