NAY PYI TAW, March 17 (NNN-MNA) — The Chairman of Myanmar’s State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), Senior General Than Shwe, received Thailand’s Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at Zeyathiri Beikman here on Monday.
The Princess is on a goodwill visit to Myanmar. Also present during the call were the SPDC Vice-Chairman, Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, SPDC member General Thura Shwe Mann, Prime Minister General Thein Sein, SPDC Secretary-1 General Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Major-General Maung Maung Swe, Minister for Religious Affairs Brigadier-General Thura Myint Maung and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Maung Myint.
The Princess was accompanied by Thai Ambassador to Myanmar Bansarn Bunnag and members of her delegation. She and her party had arrived here earlier in the morning.
While in Nay Pyi Taw, they visited the National Landmarks Garden, Planetarium, Myanma Gems Museum and Zoological Garden. They viewed the penguins donated by Thailand at the zoo.
They also paid homage to Uppatasanti Pagoda and visited the Pagoda Museum and Pitakat and Archive House. The Princess planted a Bo tree in the precinct of the Pagoda. They also toured around the capital.
Secretary-1 General Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo hosted a dinner for the Princess and her party in the evening. Also present at the dinner were the commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command, Major-General Wai Lwin, ministers, deputy ministers and senior officials.
Artistes of the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture performed songs at the dinner. — NNN-MNA![]()
