LIMA, March 17(NNN-ANDINA) -Cusco giant corn exports increased 43 percent in Jan totaling US$872,000 as Spain became the main destination market for the product, the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) said.
Spain increased its demand for this grain by 19 percent, buying from US$551,000 last year in Jan to US$654,000 this year, representing 75 percent of the total exports.
Siria, who was added as a new destination, took second place buying US$88,000 of Cusco giant corn in the first month, followed by Japan with US$77,000.
United States ranks fourth with US$51,000 representing six percent of the total exports.
Vidal Foods leads the ranking of exporting companies increasing its sales by 90 percent with a total of US$327,000 of shipments during Jan this year. — NNN-ANDINA
