ALGIERS, March 18 (NNN-KUNA): An Algerian criminal court has on Wednesday issued various jail sentences to nine people under terrorism charges.
The Criminal Court in the capital, Algiers, charged the defendants of committing terrorist acts and affiliation to armed groups active in and outside the country.
Mohammad Al-Sayyed Ould Moulai, Mauritanian, was given a three-year jail sentence for belonging to an armed terrorist group in a case that dates back to 2007.
The defendant confessed of recruiting 25 members in Mali for the purpose.
The court also issued verdicts of 20-year jail sentences in absentia for four Algerians on same charges.
It also issued 18-month jail sentences for four other suspects, while acquitting one defendant.
