ALGIERS,March 19 (NNN-APS): ? Public Works Minister Amar Ghoul has announced that the new rule of anti-seismic building will come into effect during 2010.
During a conference Thursday, he stressed that this legal measure, the first in Algeria, will concern the new projects in relation with works of art (bridges and bypasses), under the framework of the national strategy of prevention against major hazards of 2004.
In this regard, he added that the rule which will be applied and controlled by officials of works of art woks, engineering and control departments and provincial public works directions has been worked out following the European and American standards, taking into account Algeria characteristics concerning the seismic activity in different regions of the country and modern techniques of building.
