A Thai woman was sentenced to four months behind bars after pleading guilty to living in part on the earnings of her compatriot who worked as a prostitute before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Rawiwan Mongkhawira, 46, who is employed as a maid, admitted to being a driver for two prostitutes, and taking B$60 in cash on the night before she was arrested by the police.
The offence is punishable under Section 5(1)(a) of the Women and Girls Protection Act, Chapter 120, and carries a penalty of imprisonment for five years and a fine of $20,000 or both.
