NEW DELHI, March 20 (NNN-Bernama) — No more audition queues or facing criticising judges – the first Indian online singing talent hunt contest asks you to just upload your song on the internet to participate, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported Saturday.
Social gaming and networking site Ibibo allows each candidate to record their song on their cell phones and publish it on the net, which is then open to voting by the users on the site.
The winner will get the chance to record a video of his own.
“In a televised talent hunt you have a limited number of participants finally making it to the stage, but an online contest like Airtel i-Singer ensures maximum participation. We have been able to bring together 12-15000 singers on a virtual stage,” Ashish Kashyap, CEO, Ibibo, told PTI.
The contestants have a choice of singing in any of the following six languages – Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Malayalam – and six musicians/composers have been roped in to judge the shortlisted contestants.
“Since our country is so diverse, we have given a choice to the contestants to sing in the language they like, so that more people can take part,” said Kashyap.
Musician and composer Raghu Dixit from the Raghu Dixit Project is going to judge the songs in Kannada and music director Hanif Shaikh, who has composed the songs for upcoming film ‘Pathshaala’, will judge those in Hindi.
Music director Sanjeev Rana will judge songs in Bhojpuri, while Neil Dutt will rate the ones in Bengali and Maulik Mehta in Gujarati.
