STUDENTS participating in the Leadership Camp organised by Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College hope to learn to be independent and disciplined individuals.

Mohd Faiz Sabli, a Secondary Four student at the college, told The Brunei Times that he decided to take part in the camp because he felt he was a “spoilt kid who could not live without his parents and maids”.

“That is why I decided to take part in this camp, because I heard from my prefects and school mates from previous years, that I could benefit from the camp,” he said.

The 17-year-old explained he wanted to learn the necessary survival skills at the camp.

Another Secondary Four from the college, Aqilah Izzati Zainal said she is taking part in the camp because she wanted to become a well-disciplined person, and learned leadership skills.

“I want to acquire leadership and disciplinary skills and do something for myself,” she said.

The 15-year-old student said her teachers motivated her to take part in the four-day camp. “This is going to be amazing and I am excited,” she added.

Amalina Ashikin Ali, from Sultan Hassan Bangar Secondary School in Temburong, gladly signed up to take part in the programme because “the camp sounds interesting and challenging”.

She is one of five students from her school participating in the programme.

Amalina related that she, too, heard about the camp from her teachers and peers who had previously participated in the annual college event.

“I hope to meet new friends here, and gain experience in leadership,” she added.
