A Khatam al-Quran ceremony was held recently at the Brunei Hall surau for students residing in London. The guest of honour at the ceremony was Abdullah bin Hj Ahad, Director of Studies of Brunei Students Unit. A total of 20 students participated in this religious event. A Quranic reading circle was held every Friday night for the past five months in preparation for this event.
The event started with a recital of surah al-fatihah led by Ustaz Hj Raminey bin Hj Salleh, Religious Officer of Brunei Students Unit. It was followed by the recital of ‘Surah Lazim’, Takhtim, Dikir as well as the recital of Doa Khatam, read by one of the students, Hj Majidi bin Hj Bakar. The event ended with the sprinkling of ‘bunga rampai’ by family members as well as other Bruneian officers residing in London.
The event was successfully coordinated by Rasid bin Hj Ali, Religious Officer of the Brunei Students’ Union (BSUnion), with support from the Brunei Students’ Unit. Similar khatam al-Quran activities were held previously in Manchester and Loughborough, organised by the Bruneian student societies in those areas. Adi Asmawi Adanan & Nur ‘Izzati Ibrahim in London
