AMMAN, March 28 (NNN-KUNA) — Iraq, in cooperation with Jordan and Egypt will operate a road from Baghdad to Amman, then to Cairo, Iraqi official said.

Al-Doustor newspaper quoted Iraqi Minister of Transportation Amir Abdul Jabbar as saying that he will discuss with his Jordanian and Egyptian counterparts during the approval of the budget of Al-Jeser Al-Arabi company, the possibility that the company would operate trips, after agreeing upon the required visas.

Abdul Jabbar said on the establishment of railway network between his country and Jordan that Iraq started to conduct studies to set the railway tracks on its lands, especially in Turaibeel and Ramadi close to Jordanian boarders.

The daily quoted him saying that they are working to allow the private sector to finance the highly priced project.

On Iraqi airplanes stranded in Queen Alia International Airport since 1991, Abdul Jabbar said the his country’s cabinet was informed of the negotiations with Jordanian Jaramco Company of the possibility of buying those rickety airplanes and rpairing the presidential plane.

Those airplanes were smuggled by the Iraqi regime in 1991 to a number of Arab countries, among them Jordan, which has six of them of models of Boeing 707-727 at Queen Alia airport, without any maintenance.
The Jordanian government has constantly demanded a fee estimated at USD 6.5 million for leaving those planes.

The Iraqi minister is in Jordan to participate in the opening of the headquarters Al-Jeresr Al-Arabi Company, a joint Iraq-Egyptian-Jordanian company, operating since 25 years, and owns a number of yachts, and the three countries are expected to raise its capital in their meeting in Amman to USD 75 million compared to USD 66 million in 2009. — NNN-KUNA
