Temburong goodies catch royal attention

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah was among 32 students and lecturers of the BA Public Policy programme of Universiti Brunei Darussalam who made a visit to Temburong yesterday.
Upon arrival at Temburong District Office jetty, Her Royal Highness was briefed on Temburong by the District Officer, Awg Matusin bin Orang Kaya Sura Hj Tuba, at the Muafakat Hall.

The students and lecturers visited the Temburong Village Consultative Council Products Centre at the Indigenous Business Building followed by a trip to Temburong Cultural and Arts Heritage Gallery.

The UBD delegation also visited Belais and Buda-Buda Village Consultative Council to see the economic projects of the village such as chicken farming and mushroom cultivation, heritage park as well as traditional handicraft and food-making.


They also went to Sibut Village Consultative Council to see the tourism project at Taman Tasek Bukuh Aie Merah, homestay programme and an Iban handicrafts exhibition.

The delegation proceeded to Belingos Village Consultative Council to see a mushroom cultivation project and Malay traditional food exhibition.

The UBD students and lecturers also visited Senukoh Village Consultative Council’s tourism project entitled “Senukoh: A mesmerising traditional lifestyle”, highlighting traditional dances of the Murut community, paddy grinding, as well as traditional games such as ’tilan-tilan’, ‘latup-latupan’, ‘saluk-salukan’, ‘biskal-biskalan’ and ‘terompak tempurong’.

The delegation also toured an exhibition of traditional handicrafts and foods such as ‘Wajid Temburong’, ‘kelupis bejalin’, ‘lapat’ and ‘pais manis’ and saw a yellow noodle-making demonstration.
