The punishment for litterbugs has on numerous occasions been publicised in the media, however, the warning is still falling on deaf ears for many.
The Law Enforcement Unit of the BSB Municipal Board in a span of a week (last week) slapped a total of six compound fines on companies and individuals for indiscriminately disposing of rubbish in public areas.
Four compound fines were issued to individuals and companies last week in Beribi and Jangsak during `Operasi Benteras 10/2010′ on Saturday.
Two individuals were found to have dumped rubbish in public places and were issued with compound fines of $100 and $300 respectively.
A convenience shop and a workshop were both slapped with compound fines of $200 for discriminately dumping rubbish in public places.
Meanwhile, last Thursday, a convenience shop in Kota Batu was fined $200 for throwing rubbish in a public area and another individual received a compound fine of $100 for throwing rubbish in a public area.
The Enforcement Section of BSB Municipal Board has warned the public not to throw rubbish in public places and its officers will regularly conduct operations to make sure that all businesses comply with the Minor Offences Act.
