Members of the public flocked to the Belait Waterfront Park yesterday to watch the powerboat race as well as other activities lined up to mark the charity festival to raise funds for the Tabung Amal Daerah Belait.
In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR), Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abd Wahab was present to watch a powerboat 18hp race and 12-member team paddling boat race.
The deputy minister also joined the paddling marathon boat race and later viewed the exhibition and sale of village products from various Mukims in the district.
At the end of the event, Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah presented the prizes to winners of the powerboat race.
Apart from exhibition and sale of village products, a jogathon was also held in the morning at the public park area. The six-kilometre open race category and four-kilometre category for female and veteran race were opened by the District Officer, Awg Haji Jamain bin Momin.
Other exciting events and competitions that took place at the waterfront park included the charity cycling expedition and also remote control car race which also took place yesterday morning at the parking lot area of Menara Cendera Kenangan.
Activities for children included a colouring competition at the recreational park area as well as science demonstration by representatives from the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria.
