Cosmopolitan College students gain insight on digital marketing

Borneo Bulletin Writer Apr 15th, 2010 .

Cosmopolitan College students attended an entrepreneur workshop on Digital Marketing at iCentre in Anggerek Desa recently.
This workshop was organised by iCentre, the first Info-Communication Technology incubator in Brunei Darussalam. The workshop focused on the discussion of mobile marketing, social media strategies, and the benefits of using digital channels to increase sales and profit.

The event started with an interesting video presentation about a case of bad customer service, which was placed on the Internet. With that, the students learned the power of technology can either boost or weaken a brand and how the modern method of marketing can influence the public’s decision.

Some of these young students are studying in Computing and some are taking up Business Finance where most of them are enthusiastic about Facebook, Twitter, as well as mobile applications. With this workshop, these students realised that there is more to Facebook and Twitter than social networking. Aside from tagging pictures and posting comments, they can use it to promote a business, should they intend to put up one in the near future.

“The workshop was relevant to my field of study. This creates an edge to my upcoming projects and assignments. I hope more workshops like this will happen in the near future,” said Ashley Achmed bin Jeffre, a student taking up Pre-National Diploma in Business Finance.

The college administration has planned several activities such as this to further enhance the skills of the students.

Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology is a private college that offers London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BTEC National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, and Higher National Diploma courses. For further programme information, the public can contact them at 265-1245.
