Signboards to remind public not to throw rubbish callously

James Kon Apr 16th, 2010 .

AS ONE of the measures to remind the public not to indiscriminately dispose of rubbish in public places, the Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday installed signboards at various stalls and markets.

The signboard displays the offences whereby it states that anyone found convicted of throwing rubbish can face a fine of up to $1,000 for the first offence and $3,000 for subsequent offences, as well as imprisonment of not more than three months

The placement of the signboard at such areas serve as a constant reminder to owners of the stalls and market, as well as members of the public to always comply with the regulation that is aimed at upholding the cleanliness of the surroundings.

The signboards were placed in stalls and market areas under the jurisdiction of the Brunei-Muara District Office namely Gerai Kampong Jangsak, Gerai Aneka Ria RPN Kg Rimba and Gerai Kampong Selayun, Sengkurong B.
The signboards will also be erected in public places near the border of Kuala Lurah as well as at the Serasa and Menumbuk Ferry Terminal.
