FAMILY of five hailed from Tutong, took a leap of faith yesterday by embracing Islam.
The head of family, Mohd Daanish Abdullah Cheah, 32, formerly known as Cheah Cheng Keong, and his wife, 36-year-old Nur Danee Sa’adah Abdullah Edin, formerly known as Norsada Edin, with their three children, aged one, four and six, declared their new faith at a conversion ceremony held at the home of Nur Danee Sa’adah’s brother-in-law, Hj Shamsul Hj Zaini at Jalan Dadap in Kg Kilanas in front of family and friends.
Nur Danee Sa’adah, a Royal Brunei Catering employee, said that she had always thought about converting to Islam since she was in school.
“I have learned about Islam and its ways since I was still a student. Most of what I know about the religion came from my peers at school,” she added.
She related that she was glad that her husband was finally ready to embrace the religion and that their family was going to adapt Islamic values in their lives.

Mohd Daanish recited the syahadah declaring his iman (faith) in the Oneness of Allah (SWT) and the seal of the Prophethood of Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in the presence of a religious officer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre and two witnesses, Hj Shamsul Hj Zaini and Amir Abas Hj Zaini. An emotional Nur Danee Sa’adah followed suit in the presence of a female religious officers from the centre.
The event proceeded with the recital of the dzikir marhaban while the new converts were sprinkled with bunga rampai (scented shredded flowers) by family and friends. The new converts also received souvenirs from Royal Brunei Catering General Manager Hj Omar Ali Hj Mohd Daud.
