ABDB keep FA Cup

Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) lifted the FA Cup trophy for the second consecutive year after demolishing QAF FC’s dream of winning their 4th trophy of the season winning 2-1 in the DST Group FA Cup final at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.
“My players were fantastic tonight although we need to play under inclement weather. We won our third FA Cup trophy after winning it in 2003 and 2007/2008 season and this is good for us retaining our title and stopping our opponents from grabbing all trophies this season,” said the all smiling MS ABDB team manager Lt. Col (Dr) Bahrin Hj Bintang after the match.

MS ABDB scored their two goals in the first-half through Md Amalul Ariffin Shah Said in the 28th minute and team captain Rosmin Hj Md Kamis who was named the FA Cup final Best Player in the 42nd minute.

Cameroonian import goal-scoring machine of QAF FC, Vivan Francis Bayong who received Premier One Top Goal-Scorer Award after scoring 20 goals all season, scored QAF FC’s goal in the 61st minute.

MS ABDB as the champion of FA Cup this season received $3,000, Challenge Trophy and medals followed by QAF FC winning $2,000 and medals.

Meanwhile, QAF FC’s head coach Mohd Ali Hj Mustafa was named the Best Coach followed by his two players Mohd Sahan Mumtazali (Best Goalkeeper) and team captain Riwandi Wahit (Best Player).

MS ABDB’s Mohd Isa Hj Bahar was named as the Best Young Player followed by Mohd Azri Jebri of LLRC FT won the Premier Two Top Goal Scorer award (14 goals).

The Best Referee award was won by Metusin Sumpong and Brunei Shell Football Team snatched the Fair Play Award.

This season’s Premier One champion were QAF FC followed by MS ABDB (2nd) and AM Gunners FC (3rd) while LLRC FT’ won the Premier Two followed by KSJ Penjara (2nd) and Persatuan Lun Bawang (3rd).

Present as the guest-of-honour who also presented trophies and medals was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Ahmad Hj Jumat.
