THE Tutong Youths Council in cooperation with the Tutong District Office and the Tutong Department of Environment, Parks and Recreations organised a ‘Youth Beach Festival’ that took place at Seri Kenangan Beach yesterday.
The festival, which was held in commemoration of the Sultanate’s 26′h National Day, began with the recital of surah al-fatihah and a doa selamat, followed by the singing of the national anthem and a fun aerobics exercise session.
Present during the opening of the beach festival was the event’s chairperson, Ahanapi Hj Mahadi. Later, the guest of honour, Hj Muhd Suffian Hj Bungsu, the acting Tutong District Officer, officiated the festival.
The purpose of holding such an event was to foster a genuine sense of appreciation towards the country via recreational and social activities, further enabling youths in the district to better integrate with one another. With a gathering of quite a few young individuals, the day was also a good opportunity to guide and teach youths to follow the principles of Malay Islamic Monarchy, improve relationships between youth leaders, the community and association members.
The festival witnessed a number of cultural performances, a beach soccer match, colouring contest, fishing competition and an exhibition was set up to advise the young participants on the dangers of drugs.
