CARACAS, April 20 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Russian fighter aircraft and Chinese K-8 training jets opened the military-civil parade in this capital to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of the Venezuelan independence yesterday.
The Sukhoi-30 multipurpose air-supremacy aircraft flew together with the K-8 jet planes.
Venezuela bought the Russian and Chinese aircrafts to modernise its fleet faced with the US refusal to supply it F-16 fighter squadrons with spare parts.
More than 12,000 civilians and troops participated in the parade led by President Hugo Chavez at the Paseo de Los Proceres Avenue in Caracas.
Several heads of State from Latin American and Caribbean countries were guests to the parade, including Cuban, Ecuadorian, Nicaraguan, Bolivian and Argentine Presidents Raul Castro, Rafael Correa, Daniel Ortega, Evo Morales, and Cristina Fernandez. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
