An appeal from Royal Brunei Airlines passenger to London

Featured Writer Apr 22nd, 2010 .

I am one of the passenger with ticket number E6724710197028 stranded due to volcanic dust which blocked Europe airspace on 15th April. Initially I flew from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur and decided to fly to UK using Royal Brunei Airlines, since there is no direct flight for RBA from Kuala Lumpur to London, I bought a connecting flight ticket to London from Kuala Lumpur to Brunei (BI0874) and Brunei to London (BI0097). Because of the volcanic dust incident, I was advised not to fly to Brunei (BI0874) and because of that instruction I am currently stuck in Kuala Lumpur with uncertainty. Instead of waiting for my BI0097 flight in Brunei, I’m currently stranded in Kuala Lumpur. Royal Brunei Airlines Kuala Lumpur are not much of great help, I was hoping instead of leaving me in Kuala Lumpur, I could have wait in Brunei, so I can get to fly to London asap on the next flight schedule.

Royal Brunei office in Kuala Lumpur advised me that I might fly away on Saturday and they will pre book this for me. Unfortunately since Monday 19th April, I kept calling them to confirm my Saturday reservation however they are still waiting for confirmation from Royal Brunei HQ in Brunei. What puzzled me is that, instead of leaving me here with uncertainty, the RBA could have at least let me fly to Brunei so I can get the confirmation straight away since the only affected flight is BI0097.

While in Kuala Lumpur I had to book hotel and organise transport by myself using my own money, I have to cover all costs of accomodation, food, transport, tel charges etc by myself. I am not getting any enough informations from the web because most of the information is only on flight disruptions on BI0097. I’m lost because in my situation, BI0097 is not the only issue, my BI0874 flight to Brunei from Kuala Lumpur is also disrupted, I’m running out of resources here, and I dont know if I can afford to stay any longer in hotel if this disruption continues. On the another site I read on internet how RBA resumed their flight and how Royal Brunei is doing a great job on helping their passengers and updating them with latest information in Brunei while here I’m still uncertain how I will get to London.

  1. John English says:

RBA took good care of people stranded in Brunei & Dubai at their expense. It show no duty of care to people based on feeder services. Mr son & his partner were turned away on the flight from Brisbane on April 17th.
Now they offer a replacement flight home on 05 May. Three weeks later! People have jobs and responsibilities
I will need to wire him some money cause they are running out.
RBA do not come out of this with honour.
