Tutong gears up for His Majesty’s 64th birthday celebration

TUTONG District has lined up an array of colourful and exciting activities to mark the upcoming 64′h birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Besides nightly performances with religious themes and a 4X4 endurance race, there will also be an agriculture and agro-food festival, home science exhibitions, as well as badminton, netball, basketball, silat, futsal and tug-of-war competitions.

These were revealed during the 2nd Meeting of the Executive Administrative Committee for His Majesty’s 64th birthday celebration for Tutong District, which was chaired by Acting Tutong District Officer Awang Hj Muhammad Suffian bin Hj Bungsu yesterday.

Awang Hj Muhammad Suffian, who is also the chairman of the committee, thanked all committee members for their dedication in making His Majesty’s upcoming birthday celebration in Tutong a success.

YAM Pengiran Setia Negara Pg (Dr) Hj Mohd Yusuf bin Pg Hj Abdul Rahim and Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Awang Hj Muhd Taha bin Abd Rauf were among those who attended yesterday’s meeting, which was held at the community hall in Tutong.

Also discussed at yesterday’s meeting were the format of performances during the get-together ceremony with His Majesty, venues for night stalls and choir performances.

During the 1″ Meeting of the Executive Administrative Committee for His Majesty’s 64th birthday celebration for Tutong District, Awang Hj Muhammad Suffian stressed that activities planned for His Majesty’s birthday celebration should be done in a moderate scale as it would fall on the month of Syaaban.

However, he encouraged all committee members to raise their efforts and determination in increasing the quality of the activities and to get more people, particularly villagers and the general public, involved in the celebration.
