Thirty-eight students and five teachers from Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College organised a study visit to Jerudong Prison, which was headed by Cikgu Ahmad Hj Sulaiman. The purpose of the visit was to create an awareness for the students not to engage in offences and wrongdoings such as driving without a valid licence, injuring and threatening others, vandalising public properties and trespassing.
Upon arrival, the entourage was welcomed by Public Relations Officer of Prisons Department and Institution of Prisons.
The group also attended a briefing on the roles and functions of the Jerudong Prison delivered by Prison Officer, Hj Shahrin Hj Nohi, followed by a visit to the gallery of the Prisons Department. The entourage also had the opportunity to witness the demonstration of the caning punishment.
