Math Olympiad at Cosmopolitan College

Borneo Bulletin Writer May 3rd, 2010 .

To strengthen students’ maths skills and to promote camaraderie and teamwork, Cosmopolitan College recently organised an academic competition entitled “Math Olympiad” among their Pre-National Diploma (PND) students at their Student Auditorium.
Five strong teams competed against one another in three categories: Easy, Average, and Difficult. For the Easy Round, Group 3 earned the most number of points. However, during the Average Round, Group 2 was able to catch up, putting the score between them and Group 3 to a tie of 80. The Difficult Round made a different turn for Groups 1 and 5 as they were able to gain bigger points.

In the end, the group who emerged as champion was Group 1, namely, Ashley Achmed bin Jeffre, Siti Noor Hamidah binti Omar, and Pg Mohammad Faiq Hafizuddin @ Pg Rafie Pg Hj Jalaludin.

“This is a fun way to improve our maths skills. I’m glad to be involved in this competition! Hopefully, through this, students can be motivated to study harder,” says Pg Mohammad Faiq Hafizuddin @ Pg Rafie Pg Hj Jalaludin, a student taking up PND in Computing.

The management has planned several competitions such as this for its students especially in the field of English and General Knowledge.

Cosmopolitan College is a private college that aims towards furthering employability potential. They offer LCCI, PND, ND, HNC and HND programmes suitable for working professionals.
