Lumapas Religious School emerged as the champions in the recent men’s rawi reading competition that was open to participants from religious schools in the Brunei IV Area, and took place at the Masin Religious School. Lumapas Religious School succeeded in edging out the competitors after obtaining a 79 per cent score and defeating 12 other teams.
In second place was Sungai Bunga Tanjung Kindana Religious School with 78 per cent and Pengkalan Batu Religious School in third place with 77.5 per cent.
Present to hand over the certificates and prizes to the winners was Brunei IV Area Religious Education Officer, Cikgu Hajah bte Haji Saban.
Thirteen religious schools from the Brunei IV area participated at the competition and they comprised Awang Semaun Religious School, Bolkiah Religious School, Bebuloh Religious School, Junjungan Religious School, Kasat Religious School, Lumapas Religious School, Masin Religious School, Nakhoda Abdul Rasyid Mununggol Religious School, Panchor Murai Religious School, Panglima Berudin Limau Manis Religious School. Pengkalan Batu Religious School, Putat Religious School and Tanjung Kindana Sungai Bunga Religious School.
The event commenced with a mass recital of surah al-fatihah and concluded with the recital of doa selamat, led by cikgu Asmirul Asri bin Ayerman. According to the organisers, the purpose of the competition was to identify and select the best contestants to represent the Brunei IV area at national-level rawi reading competitions.
