CHIEF MINISTER of Melaka Datuk Seri Hj Md Ali Md Rustam yesterday announced that the Malaysia Games (Sukma) will be held annually starting next year.
“It has been confirmed (by Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Ministry) that starting next year in 2011 Sukma will be held annually,” Md Ali said during his visit to the Sultanate to promote the “Jom Ke Melaka” roadshow yesterday.
“This is a good decision as it will help to further develop sports in Malaysia and Brunei. Since the Games are especially for the Under-23 athletes, it means that by exposing them at this high level every year we will be able to get better performing athletes,” said Md Ali, who is also the chairman of the Games’ organising committee.
