Religious ceremony to celebrate 10th anniversary of Quran reading classes

A religious ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of al-Quran Afahal Mukminun classes for adults was held Wednesday evening at the main hall of Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Religious School.
The ceremony commenced with a mass recital of surah al-fatihah led by the chairman, Mudim Hj Metassim Hj Metussin, followed by his welcoming speech. “We have gathered here today in order to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of these classes, which has proven to be beneficial due to the achievements of al-Quran teachers.”

He added that al-Quran reading classes are conducted daily from 8pm to 10pm except on Fridays and Sundays.

The Acting Assistant Director of Islamic Studies of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ustazah Dyg Siti Mariam Awg Daud, who was present at the ceremony as the guest of honour also delivered a speech praising the accomplishments of the Quran reading class, “The response from villagers, specifically those in their 40s and 50s has been significant and they are now quite capable of reading the Quran flawlessly”.

Some 500 people attended the ceremony including the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Berakas B, Pg Hj Ali Pg Moun, religious class teachers, the committee-members as well as village residents. The ceremony coincided with a ‘Khatam al-Quran’ by attendees of the Afahal Mukminun classes. The ceremony then came to a close with a thanksgiving prayer read by Awg Suhaili Hj Ahmad, a Terannum ‘At-Tahrim class attendee.
