MA’ HAD Islam Brunei in Tutong held a khatam al-Quran ceremony for 34 students of Thanawi 5 at its main hall over the weekend.
The guest of honour at the event was the Acting Assistant Director of the Haj Affairs Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ustaz Abdullah bin Mohammad.
Also in attendance were the school’s acting principal, Hjh Hamdiah binti Hj Salleh, special guests, as well as the students’ parents and guardians.
The event began with a mass recital of surah al-f atihah led by the guest of honour, Ustaz Abdullah. This was followed by the recital of Quranic verses by “Makhtumin” members and a takhtim reading session.
The ceremony then continued with the recital of “doa khatam”, which was led by one of the participants, Mohd Izzat Izzuddin bin Pehin Khatib Hj Emran.
The ceremony was further enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban, and ended with the presentation of certificates by the guest of honour and the sprinkling of “bunga rampai” on all the participants.
To bless the event, a doa selamat was read by Muhd Hazwan Hamizan bin Hj Haminuddin.
