The Law Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department yesterday ordered a food stall operator to temporarily cease operations after an inspection revealed its cleanliness level at 54 per cent.
A report, through a joint inspection with Belait District Health Department yesterday, found that the stall was infested with cockroaches due to the poor state of its kitchen.
According to the department, the cleanliness level of the premises was found to be less than 70 per cent, hence prompting a closure notice.
The premises was ordered to improve the state of its kitchen, and all workers were made to undergo a body health checkup.
The department noted that while the closure notice would affect the livelihood of those involved, public health safety and cleanliness remains a top priority. This action serves to remind the owner to be more responsible in ensuring that cleanliness is of top priority at all times to avoid food poisoning, etc.
The temporary closure notice ensures the stall is up to standard before it can resume operations.
