Information Dept workshop on Public Relations

Hjh Saemah Zulkefli May 12th, 2010 .

It was found that some local newspapers would publish pictures that go against protocols and regulations. However, this issue has been resolved, thanks to the Information Department through its briefings and workshops.
This matter was raised by the Information Department’s Head of Media Services and Public Relations, Hj Dayang Hj Kassim, during a workshop on the Introduction to PR for Officers and Practitioners of Public Relations in the Belait District’s government departments.

It was held at the Government Residential Home’s multi-purpose hall in Jalan Maulana.

The programme, organised by the Information Department, is the first ever to be held and will go on for three days. It will provide theory and practical exercises as well as tests to prove the workshop’s effectiveness.

Some 60 people, comprising Public Relations officers from 24 government departments in the district, took part in the programme that is intended to explain the roles and functions of a PR officer, besides sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences in this particular field.

Furthermore, the workshop is intended to update the latest developments in respective organisations and those in the present media, and to expose aspects in press releases, reports, articles and photography, as well as writings.

Workshop’s participants also have the opportunity to gain some experiences and knowledge in guidelines and protocols of appropriate photo-taking for local media usage. The event’s guest of honour was Hjh Noorashidah Hj Aliomar, the Acting Deputy Director of Information.
