To develop a new generation of environment leaders in Brunei which can help the country preserve its ‘green image’, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) will organise an event called “The Green Debate”.
The auditions will be held on May 19 while the preliminary rounds will commence on May 29 at the Main Lecture Theatre 1.17 of the UBD Central Lecture Theatre Building.
According to a UBD press statement, the debate is part of BSP community engagement programme and is a platform for both UBD and BSP to increase awareness on environmental issues.
The ‘BSP, UBD Green Debate’ is also a new environmental initiative put forward by the BSP Communications and External Affairs (CEA) Department of Brunei Shell Petroleum, which is part of their commitment to the environment, community development, and ultimately the National Vision 2035.
The statement also added that the debate will focus on UBD students keen in researching environmental issues and is a foundation for the students to showcase their ideas on environment conservation as well as ways that Brunei can be a leading example to other countries on its initiative to conserve the environment.
Overall, the event will see teams from 16 institutions competing against one another.
Their marks will be tallied in a league format. The top two school teams will compete in the finals, which will be held on June 30.
