A Filipino national from Pampanga, Republic of the Philippines, has converted and chosen Islam as her righteous path of life.
Ligaya Cervantes Natividad, 47, a housewife, has chosen Dayang Siti Aminah Natividad binti Abdullah as her Muslim name.
She recited the syahadat declaring her iman (faith) in the oneness of Allah the Almighty and the seal of Prophethood of Muhammad (pbuh) in the presence of religious officers from the Islamic Dakwah Centre at a conversion ceremony held at the residence of Dayang Hajah Galoh binti Basah at Kampung Burong Pingai last night.
She chose Islam as she considers Islam as a perfect yet noble religion. She was interested in Islam ever since she came to Brunei Darussalam a few years back.
The Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman and several other senior officers attended the ceremony.
The highlight of the ceremony was the sprinkling of “bunga rampai” by the deputy minister and later followed by a dikir marhaban.
