Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held an audition for the UBD participants for the upcoming UBD and Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) “Green Debate” yesterday.
The audition held at the Main Lecture Theatre 1.17, UBD Central Lecture Theatre Building had attracted students from Year One and Two from all UBD faculties. Throughout the morning, 10 participants presented their debate on the topics provided by UBD, which touched on ecotourism, plastic bags usage in Brunei Darussalam and how to support government initiatives in environment conservation. UBD academic and non-academic staff and invited judges were present to witness the event.
One of the participants from the UBD Faculty of Business, Economic and Policy Studies (FBEPS) said, “I participated in the debate because I want to express my ideas and support towards environment conservation which is currently being initiated by the government and non-government sectors.
“At the same time, I also applaud UBD and BSP for organising such event to increase the public’s awareness on environmental issues.”
She also said she did not expect to see a huge turnout due to the UBD semester holidays.
The selected participants will be informed by the debate committee and will be joining the Green Debate Competition Semi Final which will be held on May 29 at the UBD Chancellor Hall Lecture Theatre.
