FIVE special varieties of Nescafe are being recalled from the market due to fear that the products may contain small bits of broken glass.
The Group Corporate Affairs & Wellness Unit of Nestle Products Sdn Bhd said in its press statement yesterday that “it recently came to our attention that a specific type of 100g glass jar of the Alta Rica, Alta Rica Decaff, Cap Colombie, Suraya and Espresso soluble coffee range specialty varieties of Nescafe could break during the delivery process to our customers and could therefore contain small pieces of glass”.
“The quality and safety of our products is a non-negotiable priority for our company.”
The statement emphasised that only products in this specific jar format were affected and that they will be “changing the packaging format before we reintroduce this coffee range to the market”.
The Nestle appointed distributor in Brunei does not import these products into the country, “however, there may be instances of parallel import by third parties”, added the statement. A representative from Nestle’s Branch Sales Office in Brunei said that they had checked all the supermarkets and found none of the products at the local supermarkets.
“We received the email notification last week, and had since carried out inspections on the supermarkets. We do not import the range into Brunei, but due to the possibilities of parallel import (by third parties) we have to conduct checks,” he said.
Customers who are in possession of any of the affected products may contact the Branch Sales Office at +6738973986 for further information on exchange of product or refund. Rasidah HAB
