Maktab Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien (SOAS College) emerged as the champion in the 2010 BSP National Road Safety Traffic Games, defeating 32 secondary schools that competed for the title. The school walked away with $1,000 cash and a championship trophy.
Six secondary schools went through and competed in the final round of the competition which took place at the Seria Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) Traffic Games Park yesterday morning.
The runner up was PIHM Secondary School winning $800 cash and a trophy, and followed by Sayyidina Hussain Secondary School walking away with $600 cash and a trophy.
Consolation cash prizes of $400 were also given to three other schools – Sharif Ali Secondary School, Awang Semaun Secondary School and Pehin Dato Maharaja Secondary School, Mentiri.
The guest of honour at the final round of the competition was Superintendent Awg Mohamad Hadini bin Haji Othman, the Law Enforcement and Operations Officer from the Department of Investigation and Traffic Control, Royal Brunei Police Force.
More than 400 students from 32 secondary schools nationwide took part in this year’s competition, which served at inculcating the fundamentals of road safety from an early age. The main aim of the competition was for students to gain proper road etiquette during the road safety traffic games.
The competition was one of the activities jointly organised by BSP, National Road Safety Council and the Ministry of Education for students in the country.
