His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) consented to attend a ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ or thanksgiving prayer ceremony held at the Berakas Garrison surau yesterday.
The event was held in conjunction with the celebration of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces 49th anniversary.
His Royal Highness was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the former Deputy Minister of Defence and now Minister of Energy, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar, RBAF Commander, Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Majid bin Mangarshah, Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Defence, Service Commanders and Commandant Training Institute RBAF, Senior Officers of Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
The ceremony began with the recital of al-Quran verse by 807 Lieutenant Awangku Khairuddin bin Pg Hj Muhd Tali. This was followed by the mass Maghrib prayer, then the reading of ‘Wirid’ and ‘Doa, ‘Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil’ and ‘Doa Kesyukuran’.
The ceremony proceeded with the mass Isyak prayer, then the ‘junjung ziarah’ before HRH Prince General Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah proceeded to the Officers’ Mess for the ‘santap’ and photo session. After the ‘Doa Selamat’ was read at the end of the event, His Royal Highness consented to sign the Royal Parchment.
The ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ ceremony is one of the side activities being held among others to acquire blessings from Allah Subhannahu Wa ta’ala. RBAF celebrates its 49th anniversary at the Penanjong Garrison today with the presence of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. This year’s anniversary theme is “Defending My Country Brunei Darussalam”.
