Eighty-two students aged between seven and 12 years joined the 3rd Primary School National Girl Guides Camp which started on June 5 at PSN Pg Mohd Yusof Lorong Tiga Seria in the Belait District.
The camp organised during the mid-term school holiday is aimed at fostering closer relations among girl guide members as well as to fill their time with beneficial activities.
The annual camp also trained members to be independent and inculcate the spirit of teamwork.
Fun activities are being held at the camp including tree planting, making straw brooms and creating handicrafts from recycled items such as newspapers, tissue boxes, unused bottles and tins.
Members also listened to a religious motivational talk on “Responsibility of Girl Guides to Allah SWT” by Cikgu Pg Haji Hamzah bin Pg Haji Mohammad, Officer of the Religious Section, Co-Curriculum Education Department.
Yesterday, the girl guide members visited the Seria old folks home and carried out community works such as cleaning the compound area and rooms.
During the night, the students performed cultural stage performances and the guest of honour at the event was the Senior Education Officer, Hajah Norhani binte Pengiran Haji Ismail.
Today (June 7), the camp will officially be closed by the District Officer Awg Matusin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba where members will receive certificates of participation and prizes.
