Which team do you support in the ongoing football World Cup? Brazil? Portugal? or the Netherlands?
The Minister of Communications is supporting the three and six more teams not only due to their footballing talent but also for something they have in common. “They are all wearing environmentally friendly jerseys made from recycled plastic bottles.”
Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar said this in his speech yesterday at the opening ceremony of 2nd International Conference of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
“Each jersey is made from eight plastic bottles that are melted and processed into polyester. And these jerseys are designed by countries and economies that are keen in promoting green technology and architecture as they seek to reduce carbon dioxide emissions for the greater cause.
“Meanwhile, one company has turned 1.5 million recycled plastic bottles into a nine-storey pavilion for an international floral show to be displayed later this year,” he said.
