A workshop on Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy was yesterday held at Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School to enhance knowledge on the subject among the 293 sixth form students who attended the talk.
A joint effort between the Malay Islamic Monarchy Supreme Council, Academy of Brunei Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Insitut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the workshop drew the participation of students from Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys and Insitut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
A brief talk entitled ‘Nilai dan Norma Bangsa Brunei’ was delivered by Academy of Brunei Studies Lecturer Haji Mohd Rafee bin Hj Shahif, while UBD undergraduates staged a drama that incorporated values that are inline with the MIB philosophy.
The students were also given the opportunity to analyse the drama through group discussions, and later their findings were presented.
The programme aimed at identifying students’ level of understanding of the MIB philosophy, which would then be used in planning future strategies in enhancing the understanding and appreciation of MIB among the younger generation as well as the general public.
