With His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 64th Birthday celebrations just around the corner, the Tutong District yesterday held a rehearsal at its Community Hall’s open area for the upcoming get-together ceremony with the ruler.
To further assess and improve the programme, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, Minister of Home Affairs and Chairperson of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 64th Birthday celebrations, attended yesterday’s rehearsal.
Also present to look at the preparations was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Hj Md Yussof, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 64th Birthday celebrations.
Also in attendance were Hj Mawardi Hj Abdullah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Hj Muhd Suffian Hj Bungsu, Acting Tutong District Officer, and Pengiran Seri Wijaya Pg Hj Ahmad Pg Mohd Yusof from the Adat Istiadat Department, as well as Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Hj Muhammad Taha, a member of the Legislative Council.
According to Shminan Suhaili, the Director of Performance and Scriptwriters: “There will be about 350 performers onstage on the day of the get-together ceremony.”
He revealed that this year’s celebration is spilt into three sectors, including choir and tausyeh performances.
“The participants will continue to conduct rehearsals in the run-up to the event,” he added.
The choir that comprises a mixture of people from civil departments, students, and the village consultative council members will perform three songs – ‘Doa Untuk Raja’, ‘Raja Berdaulat’ and ‘Negrara Brunei Negara Tercinta’.
The tausyeh performance will come from students of Mahad Islam Tutong. Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin along with senior officials went down to the field to discuss about the preparation of performers and changes.
The date of the get-together event is yet to be released.
