Teachers and staff of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bokiah attended a course to strengthen their understanding of the nation’s ‘Adat Istiadat’.
Organised by the school’s Staff Development Programme Unit, the half-day programme touched on ‘Adat Istiadat’ etiquette, particularly the meaning and function of ‘Terasul’ – a combination of several levels of respectable titles that is used prior to the name of the title, which is then continued with the individual’s name.
Apart from encouraging those present to utilise the ‘Adat Istiadat’ etiquette when needed, the course was also aimed at improving participants’ language skills when conversing with the royal family and those who have been bestowed titles.
The course, which was held at the school’s lecture theatre, was facilitated by Dr Haji Hidup bin Pg Hj Shamsuddin, an officer from the Adat Istiadat Department.
