The Islamic Da’wah Centre is expected to boast a new building next year after construction works began last month.
Yesterday, the centre held a ceremony to lay the first foundation stones for its additional building, attended by Acting Minister of Religious Affairs Pg Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar.
The $4.7 million building is expected to take 12 months to complete and had been built to accommodate the large number of people taking courses at the centre.
The new building will have three floors containing hostels, staffrooms, classrooms and other utilities.
Yesterday’s ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah by Mosque Affairs Officer Hj Muhammad Azrol Alim Hj Zaini.
The acting minister was also briefed on the new building by consultant architect for the project Hj Abdullah Hj Ahmad, of Abdullah Ahmad Architects and contractor for the project.
Pg Hj Bahrom then proceeded to pour the concrete and stone to lay the foundation stone for the new building.
