THE National Anti-Drug Association of Brunei Darussalam (Basmida) will launch an English version of an Islamic Da’wah Centre publication next Saturday as the book contains important values that can reach a wider audience.
In a press conference yesterday, President of Basmida Datin Hjh Masni Mohd Ali said that she translated the book, Menjulang Akhlak Bangsa Di Bawah Kepimpinan Raja to English.
The book was published for the 2007 Knowledge Convention to commemorate His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 61st birthday..
The English version of the book will be titled Upholding the Nation’s Morality Under the Monarch’s Leadership, and will be reviewed by the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The launch of the book will coincide with Basmida’s awards ceremony for its photography competition which was held in the beginning of this year.
The ceremony will be held at the Dewan Shahbandar, Holiday Lodge Hotel in Jerudong at 2.30pm.
The competition was aimed to foster positive values in individuals, families and society to create a caring society to help reduce the harmful affect of drugs, said Datin Hjh Masni in a previous interview.
The competition was divided into two categories in which participants were required to submit photos which showed ‘Positive Values’ and ‘Negative Values’.
The winners of the photography competition for each category is expected to receive the prize money of $250 and $200, $150 and $100 for second, third and fourth place.
A further 20 consolation prizes of $30 will be given out for each category.
Datin Hjh Masni requested that all participants of the contest attend the awards ceremony as they would be automatically entered into a lucky draw. The photos will also be on display at the event.
The contest was judged by a panel of four judges from the Ministry of Education, the Brunei Photographic Society, the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
