Some 18 youths were detained for further questioning during a police operation at the Kiulap commercial area early yesterday morning after alcoholic drinks were found at the arrest site.
Senior Inspector Pg Abd Aziz Pg Hj Muhammad, leader of the operation, said: “13 males and five females aged 20 to 28 years were detained for questioning after two bottles of liquor and a few cans of beer were found at the scene.”
In the operation dubbed “Operasi Lepak”, the 15 police officers from the Bandar Seri Begawttn Police Station targeted the Kiulap commercial area, specifically near the Aneka Rasa Restaurant.
Senior Inspector Pg Abd Aziz said the operation was carried out to curb unhealthy activities among adolescents and youth.
The youths have been released on bail after being detained for urine or blood tests.
